I can only imagine all the thoughts that ran through her mind when turning into Nightmare Moon.
Personally I like to think it was more of a gradual change than an instant one (like when she pretended to be Nightmare Moon during the Nightmare Night Celebrations). Just having all these confusing and conflicting feelings in her head sounds interesting to me.
